Chrysler Motors lets go 13 scandal producing employees

A scandal was caused not too long ago by a whistle blower report concerning workers from a Chrysler plant. Numerous Chrysler plant workers were captured drinking and using illegal drugs during their lunch break close to the plant. It begun with an anonymous tip to a local news station. The news station sent in undercover reporters who broke the news. After the men were caught, a scandal began to brew, which Chrysler swore to resolve. All parties involved were placed on suspension quickly. Of those involved, 2 are still suspended and 13 are fired.

Guzzling a lot more than gas

A tip was received by Detroit Fox affiliate WJBK 2 regarding the workers from the Jefferson North Chrysler Motors plant, according to USA Today. The plant assembles the 2011 Grand Cherokee. The tip was about what workers did on their lunch breaks. Apparently, a small group would go to a local park to drink alcohol and smoke pot. The news crew went to investigate. The ritual of smoking and drinking went on for 5 days until an anchor went up to the man and asked what they were up to. The party broke up. The news crew followed them back to the plant. The sting comes at a pretty inconvenient time. Obama recently concluded a visit to the same plant.

Chrysler Motors could not fire anyone at first, so 15 were put on suspension. This is due to agreements made with the United Auto Workers union. Nobody could be fired without following proper procedure. There were 13 individuals let go, and two more placed on suspension, as outlined by Automotive News. Chrysler insists build quality isn’t affected. Quality control and inspection are automated. The UAW insists that those that were terminated aren’t indicative in any way of the quality of the bulk of their members.
