Fluidnow is not so fluid; will the EUC Fix it?

Emergency unemployment benefits are a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of Americans who are suffering during the current recession and in need of emergency cash loans. Extending benefits has been a huge debate since employers aren’t hiring like the government would like them to be right now. Florida’s Agency for Workforce Innovation is trying to give at least 100,000 people who have gone a “long term” without a job some extra benefits through www.fluidnow.com. FluidNow appears to be not so fluid for some although many claim they have used the site just to have their expired benefits restarted again.

Fluidnow unable to service customers in a timely manner

An unemployed in Florida explained that the fluidnow helpline number is 800-204-2418, and if you call that number, evidently a “call back later” message that was pre recorded is always the response. An AWI representative answered the phone after hours of trying just to inform the unemployed individual that there was no information on whether or not an extension of benefits could possibly be received. The only reassurance Florida residents have received just lately on this front came from AWI Director Cynthia Lorenzo, who claims that once the U.S. Department of Labor sent fluidnow guidance, payments would be issued. Apparently the time frame of the guidance changed so often that it could possibly be any time really.

The EUC Fix – Hope for the hopeless

Many unemployed individuals are looking at getting loans or getting a part time job to help with their money difficulties. This won’t even pay for all the bills often times. Many worry that their benefits might be reduced if they were to get a part time job. Enter the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Fix. The emergency unemployed benefits are part of the extension that Congress passed just lately, according to Michigan’s MLive.com. The point is to “remove the disincentive for individuals who take part-time jobs when collecting benefits.” Struggling citizens would not have to fear having their benefits reduced in their second year of benefits, reports the Michigan news portal.

EUC Fix is not retroactive

According to the National Employment Law Project, the EUC Fix is only good for those unemployed citizens with benefit years ending on or after July 22, 2010. Those who do not fit that window are out of luck, much like scores of Florida unemployed who are waiting on fluidnow or at least some form of instant payday loans. Going to the National Employment Law Project website will help you get more information about the EUC Fix.
